Three Flash Fiction

By Christopher T. Dabrowski

Translated by Julia Mraczny

Sleep, Sleep, and Sleep Some More

People entered the room, waking up Purr.

    The sleepy tomcat wasn’t pleased.

Dumb humans – he thought with distaste. – They don’t know that sleeping is the meaning of life.

And sleep is practical. You can effortlessly get what you want in it.

Purr decided his life could use more spice, so he focused on chilli peppers as he fell asleep.

     – Good morning and good night – he muttered to the people leaving and closed his eyes.

He dreamed a beautiful dream – he was a milord, living somewhere in Great Kittany, and

the alluring feline served him mouse pudding and dried rat tea.

Santa Clause and Snowflake

Santa Claus wondered if Snowflake was truly attracted to him or whether she was fond of him

because he always had some gifts for her.

He found their relationship a bit suspicious – he was old, gray-haired, and had a big belly.

Yet some prefer older men, so….

Whatever the case, he decided to get in shape and groom himself anyway – he bought a pass and

went to the gym.

Holidays are coming, so I need to get in shape to have the strength to cram gifts.

He picked up a barbell and felt a sudden strong pressure in his chest …

Spooky Talks

     Bane howled in despair.

The she-devil sat next to her and consoled her:

      – It’s okay. Calm down and tell me what happened.

Bane pulled her nose, so to encourage her the devil decided to compliment her:

       – You look really scary.

       – Really – she smiled shyly.

       – Why did you howl?

        – The night was busy. I flew around, scaring people, and they fled screaming. Until

one just squirmed and said that my dentition was dire, and wanted to hand me a business card

since he was a dentist.

        – And what did you do?

        – I fled screaming.

        – Terrifying story. I feel sorry for you.
