Esther Ottaway is one of Tasmania’s most well-known poets, winner of the $25,000 Tim Thorne Prize for Poetry and People’s Choice in the Tasmanian Literary Awards. She is published widely in Australia, and internationally in Rattle(US), Mslexia (UK), and other leading journals, and has been short- or long-listed in the Montreal, Bridport, MPU International, Woorilla and other prizes. Esther has guest-edited Australian Poetry Journal, judged the Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize, served on the Board of Island Magazine, and worked for the Tasmanian Writers’ Centre. Her essay on female autism appears in Fremantle Press’ anthology, Women of a Certain Courage. Esther is AuDHD, and has invisible physical disabilities.
