Another Country

By Andrew Lansdown

for Susan

Even the language,

dearest, is foreign to me

in this far land where

I am lonely, this land where

I think of you in English.

Through a window

of this empty house I see

black-eyed susans.

But, belovéd, I hardly need

them to remind me of you.
